ANDERSON COUNTY MUSEUM
More than a history museum…the award-winning ANDERSON COUNTY MUSEUM is a popular hub for the community. As a lifelong learning facility, there’s something for everyone to experience and enjoy in our 12,000+ square foot gallery. We’re a hot spot for family fun with more than 100 fun-filled and educational events each year and most are free!
We tell the stories of Anderson County and South Carolina through our collection of more than 25,000 artifacts. With 11 permanent exhibits, plus temporary exhibits, you’ll find interactive displays, games and scavenger hunts for all ages. You can also check out our outdoor historic structures, the Frierson One Room School House and the McGee Harness shop, both of which are over 100 years old. Historians find our Roper Research Room a valuable place to find information about our County and State. With 21,000+ artifacts photographed and cataloged, a portion of our collection is shared online at www.andersoncountysc.pastperfectonline.com.
We’re open Tuesday from 10 – 7, and Wednesday – Saturday from 10– 4. We have free admission, free parking, and accessible facilities. Donations are accepted to help us continue our no-cost programing. When your visit ends, don’t forget to leave with a souvenir or gift from our museum store, Whitner’s Mercantile! Want to learn more?
